Georgia
Pottery Invitational 2010 begins with an opening Gala
Reception on Friday, August 27th from 6 to 9
PM; the cost is $5 per person. The Gala, which will be held rain or shine, will
give visitors an opportunity to meet and mingle with this year's participating potters while enjoying complimentary refreshments, wine
and beer. New to this year's opening gala reception is live music
performed by The Georgia Mudcats , an old-time
string band playing music with a Southern flair. Attendees may view the pottery
exhibitions in the two galleries and the much awaited Preview Sale in Rocket
Hall (Old Gym) during the Gala reception. The event will close at 9 PM.

Gallery, Out of Round Exhibition
In
conjunction with this year's featured workshop, Out of Round presenter Sequoia
Miller, and other nationally recognized potters will have their work featured
in this special exhibit. Each piece of pottery within the exhibition started
out round on a pottery wheel and was then altered (on or off wheel) and finished in
another shape. A brief explanation and
one or two photos depicting how these pieces were formed will accompany each
artist's work.
